The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has announced the start of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process for the proposed modernization and expansion of the Nogales Dennis DeConcini Land Port of Entry. As part of this process, GSA is seeking public and stakeholder input on the project and its potential environmental impacts.
The proposed project is intended to address long-standing operational, safety, and infrastructure challenges at the DeConcini Port of Entry, including increased traffic volumes, outdated facilities, flooding concerns, and the need for improved processing capacity. The EIS will evaluate two modernization alternatives, both of which include expanded vehicle and pedestrian processing, upgraded inspection facilities, advanced technologies, and improvements to the historic Morley Gate area.
